Links with other governments/international organisations

The Commissioners and our staff are pleased to be able to welcome visitors from overseas governments and international organisations. Other governments often look to the UK as a model for achieving the fundamentals of civil administration: appointment on merit and adherence to ethical values that underpin the notion of political impartiality. We continue to find widespread international interest in our work as an example of good practice. Of course many of our visiting colleagues from overseas have their roles and responsibilities fixed in statute. This is an area where we were pleased to be able to learn from their experiences.

This year our visitors from overseas have included:

  • Director General of the Regional Civil Service Development Institute of Taiwan
  • Study group from the Examination Board of Taiwan
  • Study visit from the University of Sydney
  • Chairman and Assistant Secretary of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission
  • The General Counsel of the Public Sector Integrity Commission of Canada
  • State Minister of Reform from Ethiopia
  • Commissioners from the Public Service Commission of The Gambia

Once again our office hosted a seminar under the auspices of Public Administration International. It was attended by representatives of a number of national Public Service Commissions from around the world.
