• Advise on the promotion of the Civil Service’s core values
• ‘Best Practice Checklist’ for promotion of the Civil Service Code introduced in July 2007.
• Sponsored Cabinet Secretary Award at Civil Service Awards November 2007; award criteria included communicating or displaying the core values.
• Survey of all departments and agencies on promotion of the Civil Service Code in May 2008.
• Develop appeals monitoring
• Survey of appeals to departments and agencies in May 2008.
• Working with Cabinet Office on engagement with the Nominated Office network.
• Support moves to enshrine the constitutional position of the Civil Service
• The Commissioners have given our support and warm welcome to the provisions relating to the Civil Service in the draft Constitutional Renewal Bill.
• The First Civil Service Commissioner has given evidence to the Parliamentary Administration Select Committee and the Joint Committee in their consideration of the draft Bill.
• The Commissioners have worked with the Cabinet Office to develop drafts of some of the new administrative apparatus required for the proposed Civil Service Commission.
• The status and standing of the Civil Service have figured in the Link Commissioner meetings with Permanent Secretaries.
