Link Commissioners
Each Department and major agency has a Link Commissioner. The Link Commissioner meets with the Permanent Secretary or Agency Chief Executive once or twice during the year. These meetings cover the broad spectrum of the Commissioners’ work. Issues around promotion of the values and the Code are usually high up the agenda.
The last round of Link Commissioner meetings with Permanent Secretaries ran from September 07 to January 08. A number of Permanent Secretaries said they were using the Code to refresh their own departmental values. Sometimes this was happening as result of recommendations from their department’s Capability Review. Some Permanent Secretaries commented that the new version of the Code was a practical tool for encouraging and promoting good behaviour.
