New Guides for civil servants and departments

Last year we reported on work that was underway to reassess all our policies and practices in handling Civil Service Code appeals. We wished to benchmark ourselves against best practice.

As a result of that work the Commissioners have published a suite of web-based guidance documents, which together outline our approach to hearing an appeal under the Civil Service Code.  These are:

• The Civil Service Code: A Guide to bringing an appeal to the Civil Service Commissioners
  
• The Civil Service Code: A Guide for departments subject to an appeal to the Civil Service Commissioners
• The Civil Service Code: Policies and Procedures: The Civil Service Commissioners
  

We hope that the new guides will help to increase understanding of the appeal process among civil servants and departments. They are available on our website and will we hope provide an important resource for departments and agencies in upholding and promoting the core values.
